Gail Dunkle has been in the business side of healthcare for nearly 20 years. She is a Certified Professional Coder (CPC) and a Certified Professional Biller (CPB). Her experience in healthcare includes leadership positions and business office directorships. Gail has a vast background; her areas of expertise include credentialing, enrollment, primary source verification and medical staff privileging applications. Gail is also proficient in evaluation and management (E/M) outpatient auditing. She brings years of experience in RHC regulation assessments, coding, and billing. Gail is involved with the National Association of Rural Health Clinics rules and regulations. Gail has written articles in Directions From The Crossroads Newsletter and she presents to health networks and clients on coding, billing, and rural health care.

Brenda has been involved in the healthcare arena for over 35 years with experience in chart audit, coding and billing, education, consulting, practice management and compliance. She has worked closely with practices, providers and residency programs to ensure documentation is compliant and accurate. Brenda has written many articles for national publications including Healthcare Business Monthly, American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP) and BC Advantage. Her humorous and engaging presentation style has made her a conference favorite at national and regional conferences for AAPC, AMBA, and Decision Health as well as local chapter meetings across the country. Brenda has been a national advisory board member for AMBA since 2018. She served on the AAPC Chapter Association Board of Directors from 2010-2014 and held office as Chair. She has been intimately involved in the development and continuation of the Hardship Program for AAPC. Mentoring fellow members of AAPC and AMBA is a passion for her. She is co-founder of the northeast Kansas (NEKAAPC) AAPC chapter and has served many offices.

Heidi Johnson is a Nationally Registered Certified Medical Assistant (NRCMA) and a Certified Professional Coder (CPC) working in healthcare since 2007. She has 10 years’ experience working on the clinical side in outpatient clinics giving her an extensive understanding of documentation required to support professional services. Research, education, and medical record review are areas of expertise she enjoys. Heidi stays aware of industry regulation changes/healthcare innovations and enjoys participating each year in the CPT & RBRVS Annual Symposium.

Karen Richardson is a Certified Professional Medical Auditor (CPMA), Certified Professional Coder (CPC), and Certified Physician Practice Manager (CPPM) with over 25 years’ experience in healthcare management and compliance. She has worked at the corporate level of large provider organizations managing teams of coders and auditors. With extensive experience reviewing providers of multiple specialties, she developed training and education programs for coders and providers including residents at teaching hospitals. Collaborating in investigations, she worked on complex reviews and served as a member of Corporate Compliance Committees. Karen is a past president of the Kansas City chapter of the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC).

Lisa Withrow is a Certified Professional Coder with 15 years of experience in coding, auditing and leadership positions in the healthcare field. Her areas of expertise include Orthopedics, Cardiology, Neurosurgery, Pulmonology, Pain Management, and Hospitalist, in both auditing and coding all types of E/M and surgical procedures. Lisa enjoys training and mentoring coders sharing her extensive knowledge base and is a great resource for those elusive coding issues.

Lisa Zenger is a Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) with 17 years of experience in leadership positions in healthcare, including critical access hospital HIM and business office directorships. Areas of expertise include inpatient, outpatient, emergency department, behavioral health, and ancillary therapy coding and billing for both UB-04 and 1500 claims. Medical record review for quality and completeness is also included in her arena of knowledge. Further, Lisa offers RHIT Oversight for State Hospital Association Compliance, and is knowledgeable in CMS, trauma, and cancer registries, as well as payer quality incentives.

Tracy Wagner is a Certified Professional Medical Auditor (CPMA) and Certified Professional Coder (CPC) with over 30 years in healthcare. She has experience in multiple specialties including Anesthesia, Pain Management, Emergency Medicine, and Hospital Medicine. She is well versed in all aspects of working in a medical office. Auditing and educating providers and office staff on office procedures and documentation guidelines has been her focus for the last 15 years with an emphasis on compliance and education.

Debbie Abrutz is a Certified Professional Coder (CPC) with 14 years experience in coding and auditing in the healthcare field. She has expertise coding in E/M including hospital inpatient and outpatient along with multiple surgical specialties. Her extensive work in the OB/GYN specialty makes her the expert on the team for these services. Debbie served two years on the board of the Kansas City chapter of the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC). She enjoys volunteering with other AAPC local chapters.
